About

ink & young is an independent magazine of literature, culture and art, published in Turkish, Bosnian and English.

The magazine was started by a group of young writers and translators who speak three languages around the same table. Hundreds of words that travelled from Turkish into Bosnian show that the two languages have been each other's guests for centuries, and we wanted to bring that hospitality onto the page. English is how we speak with those who have scattered, with a diaspora that reaches from London to Edinburgh.

Every issue has a theme and a colour. Our covers are sheets of ebru marbled in that issue's colours: patterns drawn in paint on water, lifted onto paper once and never repeated. Ebru is an art shared by Ottoman and Bosnian tradition; for us it is a bridge between two shores.

We publish every piece in the language it was written in. When a piece is a translation we say so clearly, and we credit the translator as prominently as the author.
